Dr Tiwini Hemi Tiwini is the founding doctor of this medical
centre formerly known as Tuhikaramea Medical Centre.
He has been practicing since 1998.
He is also a former Maori All Black and has a keen interest
in sports medicine. He
is actively involved in the practice, the church and his community.
He is married to Arnelle and they have six children. |

Dr Margaret Parle Margaret started life as a registered nurse and
has been working as a doctor for the last 19 years, 17 of which has
been in general practice.
Margaret’s special interests are Palliative Care and
Post-natal depression, and working after hours as a Race Course Club
doctor. She is married
to Rod and has 2 teenage daughters. |

Dr Imran Gopaul Imran is a French national from Mauritius.
He has been in New Zealand for the last 6 years.
His special interests are in Palliative Care and General
Medicine. He is married
with two children. |

Dr Beth McDonald Beth has many
years of experience and her specialty is in working with youth and
General Medicine.
Beth enjoys spending time with family and friends and is looking
forward to working with our patients. |

Dr Sakkie Fourie Dr Fourie has a special
interest in skin cancer as well as general medicine.
He shares his time between Avalon Medical and his own clinic
situation down the corridor SkinScanningNZ.
He has equipment for photo imaging, computer mapping and
follow up of potential skin lesions using the DermDoc System of
Dermoscopy. Dr Fourie is
an excellent addition to Avalon Medical. |

Michael was delighted to
join the team at Avalon in January 2016. He has an extensive
background in Outback emergency medicine, travel medicine and
general practice; and his interests include family health,
paediatrics and preventative medicine. Michael is a published author
of three novels for young readers and has travelled widely to over
50 countries on six continents. He lives in Horotiu with his wife,
young son, cat and two Labradors. He hopes to serve the Avalon
community for many years to come. |

Dr Peace Yingping Ma I was a O&G doctor in China before coming to
NZ 20 years ago. I also speak Mandarin, Cantonese. I have been a LMC
midwife in Auckland and Hamilton for 6 years. My special interests
are in O&G care. |

Tania Tania joined the practice in
November 2014 and quickly demonstrated leadership qualities and now
holds the title of Practice Nurse Manager.
She has 11 year’s experience as a registered nurse and loves
being able to provide care and advice for our patients.
Her previous experience has been with Acute Mental Health,
Renal and Emergency Departments.
Tania is married to Warren and the mother of 3 teenagers.
She loves the outdoors and shopping. |

John John has been with the practice since 2004. His
knowledge and expertise is quite considerable.
Minor surgery, Diabetes and CVD assessments, Childhood
immunisations, Travel vaccinations, Smoking cessation and general
injury and wound management are just some of the things that John is
proficient at. John is also
an excellent cook; he can smoke fish, cook an umu and bottle
tomatoes. John is
married to Keri and they have many mokopuna to run around after.

Irene Irene joined the practice in
2014. She is a certified
Medical Care Assistant having completed studies at Wintec.
She is trained in phlebotomy, smoking cessation advice and
taking general observations including blood pressure readings.
Irene has successful raised a family of 4 children and is now
enjoying being in the workforce.
She says everyone in the team is so helpful and nice.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and
being outside. |

Sundee Strother Sundee is Practice Manager
to a fast growing practice that has seen the increase of staff and
patients in a very short space.
Juggling high demands and deadlines is something she has
learned to deal with on a regular basis. She loves her work and the
ability to interact with patients for any concerns they may have.
She says “we have a great team, everyone pulls together”.
Our aim is to be ‘The Best in the West’ and going the extra
mile for our patients is one way to achieve this.
She is married to Mark and enjoys attending church and
spending time with her family.

Pania Pania has been with the practice since 2008.
She spent much of her growing up years in Australia but is
Ngati Toa descent. She
is married to Chris and they have 5 children and one moko.
Her spare time is spent at the beach with family and friends. |

Gail Gail has been with the practice since April 2014 and came to with a strong administrative background. Gail is from a small farming community in the Bay of Islands. She has 3 children and in her spare time enjoys watching rugby, gardening, reading and spending time with friends and family. |

Bernadette Bernadette has worked in various medical centre
throughout Hamilton for many many years.
She has recently started working for us since Feb 2014.
We think she is a great asset to our team and will benefit
from her many years of experience and knowledge. Bernadette enjoys
travelling and spending time with her family.
She is married to Howard and they have 3 children. |

Jodi Jodi started working part
time at Avalon Medical in May 2015.
She works closely with the Practice Manager and assists with
administration and claims entitlements.
She also provides backup support to the reception team and
learning all facets of the organization.
She is a wife to Rob, Mother of 5 + 1 dog and a Grandmother
to 4. Her hobbies
include reading, boot camp training, trekking, coaching mini ball,
yoga and gardening.
